1 750 ml. bottle Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
4 cloves
2 whole star anise
1 orange, sliced in half
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 25 fl. oz. bottle sparkling lemonade
Optional Garnish: orange slices, cinnamon stick
DIRECTIONS
In a large saucepan, bring wine, water, sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise and orange to a simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes.
Strain mixture over a bowl or pitcher and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or until cool.
Mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Rim a glass with cinnamon sugar by rubbing a slice of orange along the rim and dipping it in the sugar. Fill glass with ice, then fill halfway with the cooled mulled wine. Top with sparkling lemonade and garnish with an orange slice and cinnamon stick.
